Barry Patterson, A/g Director South Australia State Office 

Barry Patterson commenced in the positon of acting Director, South Australia State Office in April 2018, and as Deputy Director, in September 2016. Barry was previously DFAT Liaison Officer and Strategic Adviser to the ADF’s Headquarters Joint Operations Command (2013-14), and was posted as First Secretary to Timor Leste (2011-2013). He has worked as a desk officer and aid program manager (education, policing and security, governance) in the Indonesia and Timor Leste branch and was a Director in the Civil Military and Stabilisation Branch. Barry was also a policy officer in the International Policy Division of the Department of Defence. Barry holds a Bachelor of Politics and Law (Hons) and Bachelor of Business. Prior to DFAT, Barry worked in the private sector in project management, and as a director of a defence and security research institute.
