MembershipMembership of RUSI and its Constituent Bodies is open to any person who is in sympathy with the aim and objects of the Institute and will make a positive contribution to it. If you join you will be part of a nation-wide organization that promotes informed debate on defence and national security and improves public awareness and understanding of such matters. You may simply want to become better informed yourself on these matters. Use the "Join Online" button, complete the form, pay the fee by credit card and you will instantly become a provisional member of the Institute. Access to restricted sections of the website will be provided once payment and provisional membership detail are accepted by the website. Applications made on-line will be subject to confirmation by the Council of the Constituent State Body of the RUSI you are joining - the website and the RUSI National Office act only as agents in this process, as you are applying to join the Constituent Body of your choice. By completing the application form, you indicate you will support the objectives of that Constituent Body of RUSI, and that you will abide by their rules.

RUSI and its constituent bodies respect your right to privacy under the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth of Australia) and is required to comply with the National Privacy Principles in respect to the collection of personal information from individuals. Any information collected through this website from a person applying to join a constituent body is that required to allow its Council to make a decision on the eligibility of that person to join, and later to communicate with the member on matters of membership and activities. Be assured that we only collect personal information to serve our members and to further the work of the Institute. We keep all personal information provided to us in the strictest confidence. We do not rent, sell or commercially use your personal information with any third party under any circumstances. We do not otherwise share your personal information with any third party without your prior express permission. Please note, however, that we must fully co-operate should a situation arise where we are required by law to provide information to a duly authorised Australian government law enforcement agency.
RUSI will record your email address when: you register with its National website; if you become a member of a RUSI body through the website; and, in some cases, where you initiate correspondence or contact with RUSI. We do not use your email address for any other purpose and we will not disclose your email address to a third party without your express consent. Recipients of email messages from RUSI may choose to unsubscribe from our distribution list by advising us by email, telephone or hard-copy correspondence. Refunds Policy
When you complete your application and pay your fee by credit card you will become a provisional member of the Institute of your chosen State or Territory body. Applications made on-line through this website will be subject to confirmation by that State or Territory's Body's Council, and if declined, your membership application fee will be refunded by that Constituent Body, not through this website. If you wish to withdraw your application before you are accepted as a full member, you will need to write to the Secretary of the State or Territory Body you applied to join, who will refund your application fee in accordance with their own procedures and processes, again not through this website. If you wish to cease membership after you have been accepted as a full member, you will need to apply to the Secretary of the State or Territory Body you have joined, who will advise you of the respective Branch's refund policy on cessation of membership.
